Scott Kara at the New Zealand Herald enjoyed a "devilishly loud, heavy and beautifully confronting set". Joe Nunweek of Groove Guide framed the show in even more heroic terms, seeing it as the final vanquishing of the 'baby boomers'. Emily Littler of Street Chant found Mark Smith's memories of 1982 undimmed, noting on Twitter that "I talked to Mark E Smith about Fall in a Hole, he seems mental as but remembered the show and knew what the LP cover looked like". Those with some precognition were enjoying a pint at Galbraith's with Smith and 'the lads' before the show, not stuck in the Powerstation ("no passouts tonight"), impatiently watching Safi Sniper and waiting for the Fall. Finally, it seems there were few complaints from the denizens of the Fall online forum.
