you know my name is ray: hunters & collectors 1986

Hunters & Collectors at The Galaxy on Mt Eden Rd, mid-1986. Percussionist Greg Perano was long gone, but the Horns Of Contempt were hanging in there. For me, some of the old magic had gone, but on their night the 'Hunnas' were still a muscular rock band with some great songs: 'Carry Me', '42 Wheels', 'Throw Your Arms Around Me' and of course 'The Slab', songs that were full of hooks and wry lyrical observation about Antipodean life. No wonder that the Poms never got it.

'The Doctor' - drummer Doug Falconer

John Archer on bass

Giving it heaps: John Archer doing the 'bass bend'

Michael Waters on trombone

Mark Seymour has been doing a cover of The Mutton Birds' 'Dominion Rd' in his recent solo sets.

Ah, the memories come flooding back. Hunnas were one of THE great live acts. Did you take any shots of them at their gig at the Ak Uni rec centre? Great gig.
