December 1983: A night at an all-ages club called SPAM ("Society of the Promotion of Alternatives in Music") at 134 Symonds St, with three bands: K4, 8 Living Legs and Flak. The following year Mr Russ Le Roq would be running the place as "The Venue". The building was demolished with the widening of Symonds St in the mid 1990s.

Welcome to the SPAM 'Dogy Diner'. Before the music starts, grab yourself a 50 cent 'tee' or coffee, or a 90 cent 'Ham or Salami Bum'.
